Below find information on support groups for the following: Alcoholics AnonymousWeekly meetings are held for both Chinese and English speakers. Drug AbuseThe Kely Support Group is an organisation of young people assisting other young people with alcohol, drugs, emotional and other issues.
The Community Drug Advisory Council (CDAC) is a charitable organisation providing services to the local and international communities. The CDAC is mainly concerned with teenage drug use in Hong Kong. It has a drug education programme aimed at students, parents and teachers to promote drug awareness. Cocaine Anonymous is a support group to help those suffering from cocaine addiction and other drug addictions. It holds regular meetings.
HIV/AidsThe Hong Kong Department of Health has an interactive AIDS hotline that can direct people to HIV testing, counselling and information.
The Society for AIDS Care provides medical, educational and psychological support for people diagnosed with AIDS and their family members. There is a nursing service available on call 24 hours a day. AIDS Concern is a registered charity and non-governmental volunteer organisation that offers AIDS support and prevention programmes. Services are based on outreach prevention targeting specific groups in the community. HIV Information & Drop-in Centre offers counselling, education programmes and free legal assistance on HIV/AIDS related matters.
Cancer SupportThe CancerLink Support Centre runs a team of oncology nurses, counsellors, social workers, art therapists and volunteers who work together to provide information, management and self-help to patients and families.
Family Planning & Sexual HealthThe Family Planning Association of Hong Kong promotes women's reproductive and sexual health and advice on methods of birth control. It also provides medical services such as gynaecological check-ups, sub-fertility and youth health care.
Mother's Choice is a non profit organisation with a pregnant girls' service offering counselling services to girls facing an unplanned pregnancy.
Mental HealthThe Samaritans provide confidential emotional support 24 hours a day. The Mental Health Association of Hong Kong is a non-profit organisation providing social and vocational rehabilitation services for those in need.
Women's Support GroupsSoultalk is a support group for women of all nationalities in emotional and relationship crisis. Telephone and face to face counselling is available.
Children's OrganisationsYouth Outreach is a children's crisis intervention centre helping runaways. It also runs a telephone service for young people in crisis situations.
Against Child Abuse provides a service for the assistance of abused or neglected children as well as to parents who are having problems with their children.
Newcomers' GroupsThe Community Advice Bureau, operated by volunteers, provides information and referral services to new arrivals living and working in Hong Kong. In particular, help is aimed at spouses of new residents.
