A Place in the Sun

It's the time of school concerts, end-of-year exams and warmer weather... that means the summer holidays are beckoning! With the economic uncertainty of recent times, and in an effort to spend less, many people are opting to rediscover holiday locations closer to home.

Choosing a destination

Do you have plans to go away? Or are you staying here? Even if you have a grand tour booked for later in the year, there's no reason why you can't also take a trip to explore your region. Or if you have family and friends coming to stay, you can plan an excursion with them – there are so many things to see!

You might want to start out by looking in the Travel & Tourism category of The AngloFILE directory of English-speaking businesses and services. See the INFOrmation Page on Local Tourism Notes for inspiration – it's a reminder of some of the better known sites of the region and is written to deliver practical information.

Then you just need to find somewhere to stay... First, you can find out about the types of accommodation available with the AngloINFO INFOrmation Page, Holiday Accommodation Options.

Then AngloINFO can direct you to accommodation in the region: under Hotels & Holiday Accommodation you'll find a wide selection of local hotels, B&Bs, self-catering accommodation, camp sites and more, at all price levels.

Need to work out how to get there? See the AngloINFO Maps to find a destination or plan the route.

Bon voyage!
