Public Holidays in Hong Kong

A calendar of the national vacation days when businesses, schools and banks close and people get the day off in Hong Kong. With links to holidays in the UK and US.

When a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following day is designated a national holiday. However there may be exceptions, for example when the Chinese New Year falls on a Sunday, the Saturday before is taken as a public holiday.

  • Information from the Hong Kong Government: Click here

Note: It is only compulsory for employers to give 12 of the 17 public holidays to their employees (statutory holidays).
