Custom-made furniture is readily available in Hong Kong and is reasonably priced compared with most international cities. Most department stores and chain shops will deliver with a required minimum purchase and where parking is available, many stores offer free parking with a minimum purchase. Most shops selling international products have English-speaking staff to help.

Hypermarkets, Supermarkets & Superstores

• PARKnSHOP: One of the larger supermarket chains which stocks imported and local foods including dairy, breads, canned goods, meats and household cleaning items. The chain includes more than 50 superstores located around the territory with fresh flower shops, bakeries, sushi counters, delicatessens, seafood counters, organic food sections and DIY sections. 
• Wellcome: One of the largest supermarket chains with 240 stores in Hong Kong. Shops sell fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, seafood, dry goods, household cleaning essentials, basic staples, beers, wines and its own brand of no-frill products. Selections of grocery items vary from store to store depending on the location. Shops in residential areas populated with Hong Kong locals tend to sell more Chinese groceries and fewer imported goods. Wellcome's parent company also owns the specialty food shop Oliver's, catering to Western food preferences
• City Super: The high-end hypermarket chain sells predominantly Japanese foods and household items but stocks many imported groceries, wines, spirits and beers. Each store has a fresh seafood counter, butcher's counter, delicatessen, bakery and cheese shop. Besides food, the chain carries a range of beauty care, household items, interior products, stationery and gifts. Gift wrapping services are also offered

Furniture & Appliance Shops

• IKEA: International self-service furniture chain with three stores and one warehouse located within the territory. The stores sell sofas, beds, tables, chairs, shelves, curtains, towels, bedding, lighting, storage solutions, kitchen utensils, glasses, tableware, bath and kitchen fixtures, rugs, Swedish foods and toys for kids
• Tequila Kola: One of the larger home stores in Hong Kong, Tequila Kola sells signature pieces designed by the owner and produced in different Asian countries. The shop provides a selection of fabrics and designs for custom-made sofas
• Fortress: Appliance chain store with three separate divisions in each shop:
  • Fortress World sells personal electronics, and home appliances
  • Fortress Digital carries mobile telephones, digital cameras, digital camcorders, PDAs, computer laptops and MP3 players
  • Fortress Vision sells entertainment systems such as plasma and LCD televisions
• Sogo Department Store: A Japanese-style department store selling food, clothing, cosmetics and household products. The home section sells kitchen appliances, cutlery, tableware, glassware, plastic storage containers and a range of cooking gadgets. The office department sells fax machines, telephones, computers, copiers and electronic items. The furniture selection includes massage chairs, beds, sofas and chairs
• Broadway: Household appliances and electronic goods including cameras, computers, televisions, telephones, computers, and games consoles

Ap Lei Chau, an island just south of Hong Kong Island, is a popular area for furniture shopping, and has many discount furniture stores and factory-second outlets. 

Building Material, Hardware & DIY

• Wanchai District: Along Lockhart Road in Wanchai district is a concentration of numerous shops which sell building materials for the home. Most of the businesses are specialty shops concentrating on a single type of  item such as mosaic tiles or marble. In this same area are hardware stores selling tools, paints and home improvement equipment

• May Fung Company: Located right in the Central business district, the shop sells office supplies, laminators, paper shredders, binding machines and other office equipment. Services include printing, gold stamping and stationery design
• Papyrus: Stationery store with several outlets in Hong Kong. Products include cards, invitations, place-cards, gift wrap and gift boxes
• MFT Office Furniture: Chairs, desks and storage solutions for offices
